Have A Blessed Christmas!
Christmas, said to be derived from Christ and mass, is a traditional celebration of Jesus' birth. Jesus is the reason why we celebrate Christmas. And what is so important about His birth? Here are the reasons why:
Even a very long time before His birth, some 'wise' men already proclaimed His coming. "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6). "But you, Betlehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will sheperd My people Israel." (Micah 5:2).
And those prophecies were fulfilled as written in the book of Luke (2:9-14) "And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly praising God and saying:
"Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"
Also in Matthew 1:21-23, Matthew proclaimed the fulfillment of Christ's birth: "She (Mary) will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel—which means, God with us."
If we truly acknowledge Jesus for who He is - Christ the Lord and the only One who can save us from our sins - then we can truly say that we have a blessed Christ-mas - and God will be with us forever.
